How long does it take to make a Firma Beauty brush?
It takes about 5–6 weeks from start to finish for the Signature, Pink, and Voyage lines.
How are your natural hair fiber brushes made?
This is a very complicated process completed only by the most skilled artisans. The quick version is this:
- The hair is washed and dried.
- The hair is combed and assessed for quality.
- Next, the hair is blended and shaped.
- The hair is washed again and dried.
- The hair is assembled to form a brush.
- Once the brush is completed, it is tested for quality. If it meets our strict premium standards, it becomes a Firma Beauty brush.
Are your brushes cruelty-free and vegan?
All of our brushes—except the Signature line—are synthetic, meaning they are 100% cruelty-free and vegan-friendly.
What type of animal hair is used for your Signature brushes?
We use only first-cut goat hair blended with synthetic materials for our Signature brushes. First-cut goat hair is some of the softest natural hair available and results in extra-soft bristles. The hair we use is always shaved so no harm comes to the goat
How is the hair processed?
We wash and dry the hair twice, during which time we also comb it to remove broken hairs.
When the hair is ready, the brush shaping process begins. After the brush is completely shaped, it goes through another washing and air-drying process.
Where are Firma Beauty brushes made and who makes them?
Our Signature, Pink, and Voyage brushes are crafted by a family-owned business in Kumano, Japan. There, our makeup brushes are created by a group of artisans who have been making brushes for generations.
Why are your brushes more expensive than other brands?
A lot of skill and time goes into handcrafting our beauty tools. For example, the Signature, Pink, and Voyage collections are all individually made by artisans one hair at a time.
What does kumano-fude mean?
Fude means “brush” in Japanese. Kumano is the name of the city where the best brushes have been made for over 200 years. This is where our Signature, Pink, and Voyage brushes are handcrafted one by one, hair by hair.
Are your lashes cruelty-free and vegan?
All of our lashes— excluding the Bloom series—do not contain animal products.
What are the Bloom lashes made of?
Our Bloom lashes are made of silk. Because silk is an animal by-product, it is not considered vegan-friendly.
